Aviva Premiership 2015-2016 Round 7 Predictions

It’s back to domestic action this weekend and we might start to see how much more strain the Champions Cup is on sides compared to the Challenge Cup. Here are my round 7 predictions.

How did your round 6 predictions go?

5 form 6, a case of so close and yet so far.

London Irish v Northampton Saints

This weekend it’s looking like 5 out of 6 of the games should be fairly easy to predict. Irish haven’t won a game all season in the league. Saints are far from their best but their scrum is coming good and overpowering other teams. This should be a comfortable win for the table topper’s from last season.

Exeter Chiefs v Sale Sharks

Chiefs have been one of the form teams this season including an impressive win over Clermont at home. That was reversed away but few teams win against Clermont away. Sharks have had a mixed season with them struggling away so this should be a relatively comfortable home win.

Leicester Tigers v Newcastle Falcons

Tigers have been impressing many pundits this season with their form after losing several names over the summer. Going well in both the league and unbeaten in Europe. Falcons have struggled and have only managed a draw in the league. So this is another that should be a comfortable home win.

Wasps v Saracens

This is the hardest game to call. Wasps have been in good form but have lost a couple of games at home recently. They responded with a good win over Bath away however. Saracens are the only team to be unbeaten both in the league and Europe this season. As you will see from the votes below public opinion is that Wasps won’t be able to change that. I agree and I’m going with a narrow away win.

Bath v Worcester Warriors

Bath have been up and down and really have not clicked so far this season. The team hasn’t reintegrated their world cup stars and coped with the new players in the squad. They have been able to pull of some good results but not string them together. Warriors have impressed us all with how they have coped with life in the premiership but this is going to be a step too far for them even though Bath are struggling. Warriors working culture will keep the gap small though.

Harlequins v Gloucester Rugby

Quins are a team that is transformed and playing well with good recruitment. They have managed to maintain that form in the challenge cup when resting players, showing that they have some squad depth as well. Gloucester are one of the other favourite for the challenge cup having won it last season and going well again. But they are struggling again in the premiership and a trip to London I think is going to be too much.
