Weekend Rugby Review – 28 March

An exciting weekend of domestic action as the european leagues start their run in to the playoffs. Here’s my round up of all the action.

Due to work commitments and private life I have been able to write up the games this week but my 30 second video clips for Twitter have been included.

Aviva Premiership

Saracens 36 – 18 Exeter Chiefs
Gloucester Rugby 12 – 17 Bath
Worcester Warriors 12 – 6 London Irish
Sale Sharks 27 – 20 Leicester Tigers
Newcastle Falcons 20 – 34 Wasps
Northampton Saints 29 – 23 Harlequins

5 form 6, the Bath result was against their recent form.

Saracens went back top to the table and at the other end Irish are just four points behind Falcons who they face before the end of the season.

Super Rugby

Hurricanes 42 – 20 Kings
Chiefs 53 – 10 Force
Rebels 3 – 27 Highlanders
Sunwolves 27 – 30 Bulls
Cheetahs 18 – 25 Brumbies
Sharks 14 – 19 Crusaders
Jaguares 8 – 13 Stormers
Reds 13 – 15 Waratahs

6 from 8, my faith in a couple of home teams was misplaced.

Stormers and Sharks head the two African conferences, with Brumbies at the top of the Australian conference. Chiefs are one point a head of Highlanders in the New Zealand conference.

Pro12

Munster 47 – 0 Zebre
Cardiff Blues 56 – 8 Benetton Treviso
Glasgow Warriors 27 – 17 Ulster
Ospreys 16 – 25 Scarlets
Connacht Rugby 7 – 6 Leinster
Newport Gwent Dragons 15 – 16 Edinburgh

6 from 6, a perfect week!

Connacht have a four point gap at the top now with Munster into the top 4. But With Glasgow having a game in hand they still have their destiny in their own hands.

Top14

Racing Metro 92 20 – 21 Toulon
Brive 23 – 22 Castres
Grenoble 39 – 23 La Rochelle
Agen 21 – 45 Montpellier
Section Paloise 25 – 6 US Oyonnax
Bordeaux Begles 19 – 24 Clermont Auvergne
Toulouse 36 – 3 Stade Francais

Clermont top the table with a five point gap back to Toulon, Montpellier and Racing 92. Oyonnax and Agen look adrift at the other end.
