Pro12 2015-2016 Semi Finals Predictions

We are nearly at the end of one of the most exciting and competitive Pro12 seasons ever. Who do you see making the final? Here are my predictions.

First here is a link to my round-up of last weekend’s action.

How did your round 22 predictions go?

4 from 6, not the best ending to the regular season.

Here is my 30 second One Line Predictions with full reasoning below.

Leinster v Ulster

History shows that no away team has ever won a Pro12 semi final playoff. So these should be really easy and I don’t really need to write much. Except I don’t see things happening that way. Leinster have been quietly going about their business at the top end of the table all season. However in the last few weeks they have lost to all the other top 4 teams. Those games were away and they have earned a home semi final. Ulster have been up and down all season but finished with a flourish to secure the final playoff berth. With that form and knowing that they have been playing finals rugby for several weeks I’m backing the away team.

Connacht Rugby v Glasgow Warriors

When I chose this as the game for the weekly poll it was because I thought it was going to be the closer of the two. The voting though is overwhelmingly in favour of an away win. These two sides did meet recently but it wasn’t a good guide for this game as it was influenced by a red card. Connacht stumbled towards the end of the season as they tired but the losses were away. Glasgow on the other hand strengthened towards the end of the season and as champions know how to get the job done. I’m backing the away side with their greater knowhow of knockout rugby to make it two away wins after so many home ones.
