The U20s kick-off today and here are my predictions on how the first round of games will go.
First here is a link to my tournament preview.
France U20 v Argentina U20
After France’s performance in the U20s 6 Nations I’m backing France to come away with the win. Argentina are an unknown quantity to me but looking at last years results where France came 4th to Argentina’s 9th if they were to win it would be an early upset.

South Africa U20 v Japan U20
Japan will be looking to copy their senior counterparts at the Rugby World Cup. The Boks will clearly be looking to make sure that lightning doesn’t strike twice. Even though the Japanese squad had a good Asian 6 Nations I can’t see them upsetting the Boks here.

Wales U20 v Ireland U20
Wales were all concurring during the U20s 6 Nations and so I’m going to back them to go well here. Ireland will be looking to reverse that loss but they were at home and went down by 11 points. I’m not going for such a margin but still going with Wales.

Australia U20 v Scotland U20
Scotland had an OK U20s 6 Nations but Australia are coming into this off the back of beating the Baby Blacks for the first time. That confidence I think will cary them through to a victory here.

England U20 v Italy U20
Italy lost 7-42 to England at home during the U20s 6 Nations. This time England are at home and let’s hope the pressure doesn’t do bad things to them. Either way this should be a comfortable home victory.

New Zealand U20 v Georgia U20
This is a baptism of fire for Georgia who gained promoted last year. New Zealand are the reigning champions and have won this tournament more times than everyone else combined. I can’t see this being anything other than a Baby Blacks win.
