There are 2 more games in this initial block and it’s last chance saloon to have a good start and momentum for the season. Here are my round 5 predictions.
First here is a link to my round-up of last weekend’s action from around the globe.
How did your round 4 predictions go?
4 from 6, Treviso got their first win and upset most people’s predictions.
Here are my 1 Line Predictions, read below for my reason.
Newport Gwent Dragons v Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow have had a hard couple of weeks and are suffering from a number of injuries especially in the forwards. However they still will have too much class for Dragons. For Dragons it’s going to be a long season, first they need to sort out their ownership issues before thing are going to get better. So this is an away win that will help the Warriors get back in track.

Connacht Rugby v Edinburgh
Connacht’s season has been a nightmare which sees them bottom of the table and they were losing when the game against Zebre was called off. Edinburgh though aren’t going much better, they do have 1 victory over Scarlets who are also struggling. That win was at home and Edinburgh aren’t the best of travellers. So I’m backing Connacht to use home advantage to get their first victory.

Munster v Zebre
Munster have looked surprising good this season and the new coaching structures have settled in quickly. This should be another good weekend for them as they look for a TBP to go along with the win. To be fair Zebre have looked better but that’s been at home and a trip to Ireland is going to be too much for them.

Ulster v Ospreys
Ospreys have picked up 3 TBP win this season but all of those have been against bottom half of the table teams. So they still need to prove that their position in the table it not just down to having had an easy schedule. Facing Ulster away will be a really tough prospect as Ulster are unbeaten and looking like real challengers. So I’m backing Ulster to keep their unbeaten run going.

Cardiff Blues v Leinster
Blues have been the revelation of the season having won all their games so far. There was outcry last season when it was announced they would reduce their squad and provide less players to the next level down in Wales. That looks like being just 1 thing that’s been sorted off the pitch that’s reaping dividend on the pitch. Leinster have been going well with just that 1 loss to Glasgow so far. I think that away to this Blues side could be too much though and I’m backing the home win.

Benetton Treviso v Scarlets
Treviso surprised us all with their first victory last weekend and the visit of another struggling team will have them looking to back that up. Scarlets have a decent side on paper and a really exciting back line but so far they haven’t pulled it together. It’s going to happen at some point and whoever it’s against is going to get hurt on the scoreboard. I can see that happening this weekend.
