End of Year Internationals 2018 Round 1 predictions

The International window is now officially open so teams will have access to all their players! Whilst we have had 2 weeks of games this is really the first round of End of Year Internationals. There are so many Tier 1 and Tier 2 sides in action so let’s get into the predictions.

Here is my video with my End of Year Internationals Round 1 Predictions:

Main International Games included in SuperBru:

Russia v Namibia – Russia by 5

Russia are gearing up for the Rugby World Cup next year and being ranked 19th to Namibia’s 22nd along with home advantage that’s why I’m going for them to take the victory.

Italy v Georgia – Italy by 3

I’m expecting everyone to go for Georgia who are ranked 13th to Italy’s 14th in the world. Also all the media pressure to get them into the 6 Nations will also be playing on people’s minds. However they have never beaten a Tier 1 country, so if they do it will be history making.

Scotland v Fiji – Scotland by 10

Scotland might have lost to the USA in June and Wales last weekend but we should see a full strength side (bar Hogg). As a side on the up they should get a fairly comfortable victory over Fiji at home. It’s on the road that Scotland struggle.

England v New Zealand – New Zealand by 15

England might have won last weekend but it was more South Africa losing really. New Zealand rested all their players last weekend and were getting over jet lag so there are no excuses. The top side in the world will beat England who are having a tough time of it at the moment and just kicking goals won’t be enough this week.

Wales v Australia – Wales by 3

This is a really intriguing one. Wales have climbed to 3rd in the world rankings with a good summer tour to Argentina and beating Scotland last weekend. Australia are in turmoil even though they climbed a ranking place last weekend when they didn’t play. However Wales do have a mental issue with Australia and so I’m going for a close win when they should actually win it more comfortably.

USA v Samoa – USA by 3

The USA might have been well beaten by the Maori All Blacks last weekend but that was without some of their top players from Europe. They will still be missing AJ MacGinty who’s injured but they are another team on the up at the moment and Samoa have shown they are the bottom Pacific Island team at the moment.

Ireland v Argentina – Ireland by 7

Ireland are number 2 in the world and claimed a comfortable warmup victory over Italy last weekend in the USA. There rested a bunch of players in that game so should be able to step it up against Argentina. The Los Pumas are much improved under Mario Ledesma but I think that they will still find Ireland to stiff a challenge.

France v South Africa – South Africa by 5

South Africa really did lose the game last weekend rather than being beaten, also they will be strengthened by their European based players. So this should be a big challenge for the French. The French sit in a distant 8th in the world rankings for a reason and so I think this will be tough game for them.

Rugby World Cup Repechage:

Hong Kong v Germany – Hong Kong have to be favourites in this as Germany have only made it this far due to other teams getting disqualified.
Canada v Kenya – Kenya have industrial disputes going on between players and union so this should be a win for Canada.

Other games:

Coventry 12-35 Canada – Good win for Canada ahead of the Rugby World Cup repechage
Cardiff Blues v Uruguay
Ulster v Uruguay – Over these 2 games Uruguay will be looking to get up to speed ahead of playing Fiji and Rumania in coming weeks.
French Barbarians v Tonga – Tonga will be looking to win against a scratch side that has played in South Africa and New Zealand over the last 2 summers.
Chile v South American XV – Don’t know much about this game to be honest.
Brazil v Māori All Blacks – After beating the USA the Maori will be looking for another big win.
