I know the Internationals are still going but there’s no rest for the wicked and domestic action needs to continue. The Pro14 is back after a break.
Here is my video with my Pro14 Round 9 Predictions:
Glasgow Warriors v Cardiff Blues – Glasgow Warriors by 3
Glasgow are going to be hit the harder of these two sides by international callus with Scotland only having two clubs. However they have very good pedigree in this competition. Also whilst the Blues have won 4 out of their last 5 games they have only won away once this season. So it’s a home narrow victory.
Leinster v Ospreys – Leinster by 5
Two sides that will be impacted by the international competitions, maybe Ospreys not as much as in years past. However Leinster have very impressive squad depth which means that they will still be formidable. Also being at home means we should see Leinster take this one.
Scarlets v Ulster – Scarlets by 5
Scarlets are one of those sides that are a victim of their success in these international windows. To be fair Ulster are going better than I thought and did beat Scarlets in the opening game of the season. That was when Scarlets had lots of injuries. Still at home I’m backing Scarlets to take this one.
Cheetahs v Benetton Treviso – Cheetahs by 7
Cheetahs are having a very tough season with only 1 win so far. This weekend they have a great opportunity to add to that though. The Italian sides are heavily impacted in the international windows for the same reason that the Scottish sides are. So with Treviso missing so many players I’m going for a home win here.
Kings v Connacht Rugby – Kings by 3
Kings aren’t impacted by this window in a similar way that the Cheetahs aren’t. Connacht aren’t that impacted but it’s their away form that I’m more worried about. Their only away win so far was in Ireland against Ulster. So with that really poor away record I’m backing the Kings to win a narrow one.
Zebre Rugby Club v Munster – Munster by 5
Zebre are having a decent season at home where they have won 3 out of their 4 games. However we are talking about one of the heavy weights in this competition. Sure Munster haven’t won away from home yet but they have to break that drought sooner rather than later.
Dragons v Edinburgh – Dragons by 3
Yes I know that I said Munster have to break their drought sooner rather than later and I’m going to suggest a home win here off the back of a similar Edinburgh record. Yup Edinburgh have lost all 4 away games this year and they will be missing key players. Dragons are having another difficult/poor season but I’m backing the missing international players and home advantage to be enough to swing it their way.
