The International window is closed to whilst the Southern Hemisphere have their offseason all European eyes turn back to domestic action. That’s not to say domestic action hasn’t been happen and 6 from 6 last round was my first clean sweep of the season!
Here is my video with my Gallagher Premiership Round 9 Predictions:
Harlequins v Exeter Chiefs – Exeter Chiefs by 7
Put simply you always back Exeter and Saracens. Whilst Harlequins are 5th in the table they (and everyone below them) have a losing record. Also only a TBP win separates 5th from 10th. It is a very congested Premiership table this season and Harlequins are just sitting at the top of a very close group at the moment.
Bristol v Leicester Tigers – Bristol by 5
Tigers are also in that very tight group sat in 6th currently. They are another side that hasn’t convinced and their only away victory of the season so far was round the corner at Saints. Bristol have troubled teams at home and so whilst they are just outside that group in 11th this is a very good opportunity to climb a couple of places.
Gloucester Rugby v Worcester Warriors – Gloucester Rugby by 7
Gloucester are one of the few teams with a winning record and have looked like a side heading towards the playoffs this season. Good coaching coupled with good recruitment has them doing well if somewhat behind the top 2. Worcester had a poor start to the season but have righted the ship over the last few rounds. Even so they should find this trip just beyond them.
Northampton Saints v Newcastle Falcons – Northampton Saints by 3
I found this game the hardest one to call this round. Saints have been inconsistent but 2 wins in their last 4 games has given them some hope. Falcons on the other hand are at the bottom of the table despite topping their European Rugby Champions Cup group! Falcons did get a home win last weekend but will they be looking towards Europe next weekend?
Saracens v Wasps – Saracens by 10
As I said at the top, always back Exeter and Saracens. This weekend it’s 1st v 3rd but even so I’m still backing a comfortable win at home. The top two sides are that much better than the rest.
Bath v Sale Sharks – Bath by 7
Both Bath and Sale are in that tight group, however Sales away from has been poor this season. They have lost every game on the road and so this makes it simple to choose the home win.
