European action is over so it’s back to domestic action and we should be seeing some big crowds over the festive period. Last round we saw the first cracks from Exeter when they lost to Harlequins. This round sees many important clashes up and down the table.
Here is my video with my Gallagher Premiership Round 10 Predictions:
Worcester Warriors v Northampton Saints – Worcester Warriors by 5
9th hosts 10th in the table and all these clashes between the bottom 7 teams are going to be crucial. Worcester have got themselves some decent form having won their last 2 home games. Saints have been picking up some valuable losing bonus points recently and I think that’s how it will go again.
Exeter Chiefs v Saracens – Exeter Chiefs by 5
I mentioned Exeter shows the first cracks with that loss to Harlequins. However when talking to an Exeter fan he said there were only 3 games that matter this year. Home and away to Saracens then the final against Saracens at Twickenham. That might be a bit presumptuous but it certainly has been looking that way. Both these sides are going well and I’m backing home advantage to be the difference.
Leicester Tigers v Harlequins – Harlequins by 3
Harlequins are a team that are just managing to keep themselves above the massive relegation scrap. That has come about by picking up 3 wins in their last 5 games. This shows that Paul Gustard’s systems might be taking hold. Tigers on the other hand have been a mess with wins only over the bottom there in the league. With all that I think Quins will pick up their second away win of the season.
Sale Sharks v Bristol – Sale Sharks by 5
Sharks are another team with some good recent form. 2 wins and a draw in their last 3 games may still see them sit 11th in the table but they have closed the gap on the rest. Bristol are a strange one, dangerous at home but fallible on the road. However they got a LBP in their last away game in the premiership and won in France last weekend. I’m still going to back Sale’s recent form.
Newcastle Falcons v Gloucester Rugby – Gloucester Rugby by 3
With Newcastle being so far from all the other teams it’s always a hard trip to make. Also Gloucester have only got 1 away win in the Premiership, however their 2 losses came to Exeter and Saracens. Wins over Bath and Saints really have pulled Falcons back into the battle. However I think they should be happy with a LBP from this game.
Wasps v Bath – Wasps by 3
It’s hard to know what’s going on at Wasps and with the noise that players want to leave as well doesn’t help. However 3 of their 4 losses have been to the top 3 teams in the league. Also Baths travelling form has been woeful so you have to go with the home win.
