Wow we are already onto round 5 of the MLR! It’s a bit difficult to rank all the teams though as some have still only played 2 games. Only 1 side has played in all the rounds and that’s Austin Elite. They’d have wished to have a bye with their results but to get an idea where all the teams stand with The Runner Sports MLR coverage.
Here is my video with my MLR 2019 Round 5 Predictions:
Austin Elite v San Diego Legion – San Diego Legion by 3
This is turning into a disastorus season for Austin. Due to being in the south they have their home games from loaded and so far they have lost 4 games from 4. So you have to pick against them going forward.
I have only gone for a slim margin though because San Diego have not travelled yet. Are the Legion going to be good travellers? We don’t know yet but this weekend will give us an idea.
Houston SaberCats v Toronto Arrows – Houston SaberCats by 3
I don’t know if I’m letting my heart lead my head here. Both these sides have only won 1 game so far this season. That’s been over the Elite in both cases. Houston should be the fresher of the 2 sides having only played 2 games and they are at home. Toronto has struggled with practice due to the cold at home and have been on the road for 3 games. So I’m going for a narrow home win.
Utah Warriors v Glendale Raptors – Glendale Raptors by 3
With Austin the only team to have played 4 games they are often the only yard stick we have for teams. That they have lost all their games doesn’t help. Utah get to host their first game of the season with a win and a loss under their belts. Glendale finally got a win last weekend and that might be all they need to go on a long run now. I have more confidence in their squad and so with not a lot of confidence I’m got away on this one.
Seattle Seawolves v Rugby United New York – Seattle Seawolves by 3
Seattle’s season so far has been to win at home and lose away. That’s going to be tested this weekend as RUNY turn-up. That means the only undefeated side in the competition is in town. I think that RUNY will find this a step too far. Seattle are deserved champions from last season and have sellout crowds making for a great home atmosphere.
