6 Nations 2019 Round 5 Predictions

We are down to the last weekend of The 6 Nations and Women’s Six Nations. There are still 3 mens teams with a chance of winning the title. On the womens side there are 2 but it would be a major upset if England don’t complete a grand slam.

Here is my video with my 6 Nations 2019 Round 5 Predictions:

6 Nations (Men’s) – Round 4

Italy v France – France by 3

This is the hardest game of the weekend to call. Italy are an improving nation and have only really been blown away in the England game. Whilst all the others have been double digit losses 13 points was the largest gap. It’s a similar story with France except that they got a home victory over Scotland.

I’m going with France because at the moment they have the better quality of players if the lower quality of coaching. It’s not with a lot of confidence and at the beginning of the tournament I thought this was the one game that Italy could win.

Wales v Ireland – Wales by 5

This should be a cracker of a game. Both teams have the possibility of winning the tournament. Wales are going for the grand slam and if ever there was proof that defence wins championships this is it. Wales have scored the same number of tries as Italy who haven’t won a game. Only Scotland have scored less tries.

Ireland aren’t really firing at the moment but they have put together 3 wins on the bounce. However that doesn’t look to have bread confidence as we have seen the frustration on the faces of some of the players. I’m backing Wales at home to seal the grand slam because they are just playing better at the moment.

This is going to be a battle and I’ll be live on YouTube straight after the game brining you post match reaction.

England v Scotland – England by 15

This has turned into a horrible 6 Nations for Scotland. Their injury list is just crazy. GLove’s tweet below gives you some idea of how long it is! Let’s be honest Scotland fans just want this tournament to be over and aren’t expecting much from their side this coming weekend. I don’t think though that we should read too much into this as far as the Rugby World Cup is concerned though. If they have their players they will be fine.

So yes I’m going for an England victory and with Scotland missing their 1st and 2nd choice fullbacks it could get a bit messy. We have already seen what England can do against teams that don’t have a functioning back 3. If England find space there then we could have a repeat of the Ireland game. If not they it’s going to be interesting how Plan B goes.

6 Nations (Women’s) – Round 4

England Women v Scotland Women – England Women by 35

Victory here will give England the grand slam. As they are facing the side at the bottom of the table and they won by 35 points last year it’s hard to see Scotland stopping them. As I’ve said many times England and France are a country mile ahead of the other nations in this competition at the moment but over time hopefully they close the gap.

Wales Women v Ireland Women – Ireland Women by 3

This should be a good close game between 2 sides fighting it out for 4th and 5th in the tournament. Yup if Ireland win they could climb as high as 3rd depending on points margins. Even though Wales have lost 1 less game than Ireland they sit below them due to not picking up any bonus points. I think that Ireland will just have that little bit too much for Wales to contain.

Italy Women v France Women – France Women by 30

Italy are a much improved and in with a good chance of ending the tournament in 3rd place. However the gap between the top 2 and the rest is large and this will be a comfortable French victory.
