With an important win for the Arrows last weekend the table is getting split in 2. We have a top 6 separated by only a TBP win then a little gap to the bottom 3 for whom it looks like being a long old season. Catchup on last weekend’s action with The Runner Sports round-up.
Here is my video with my MLR 2019 Round 8 Predictions:
Rugby United New York v Toronto Arrows – Rugby United New York by 5
The 2 expansion teams meet for the first time in a competitive match. RUNY did beat the then Ontario Arrows in their exhibition season last year. Both these sides are very different since then though. Both sides are going well for expansion teams especially when you remember that they have had to play away so far this season.
It’s going to be interesting what size and how vocal a crowd RUNY pull. They have been going the better of these 2 sides so as long as they aren’t distracted by promotional activity they should be good.
Austin Elite v Seattle Seawolves – Seattle Seawolves by 7
The Elite really are having tough time of it with 6 straight losses. Hosting the champions is not what you need. However Seattle have not travelled well this season having already lost to NOLA and Legion. They should pickup their first away win of the season but I don’t expect it to be a blowout.
Houston SaberCats v New Orleans Gold – New Orleans Gold by 3
The SaberCats are the other team that’s finding it hard going with only 1 victory so far. So hosting the table topping NOLA is not what the doctor ordered. NOLA’s only loss so far this season has been against the impressive RUNY. So expect them to keep hold of that top of the table position and with 5 bonus points from 5 games it could be a try scoring bonanza.
Glendale Raptors v San Diego Legion – Glendale Raptors by 10
Glendale had a tough start to the season but they are liking being back at home. Back to back wins by 22 and 19 points. I don’t expect such a big margin this weekend as the visitors are going well. Legion’s only losses have been to the 2 expansion teams surprisingly. Still I think this will be a challenge too far for them.
