SuperSport Rugby Challenge 2019 Round 3 Predictions

A big thank you again to Andre our SuperSport Rugby Challenge expert.

Some interesting results last week with some less fancied teams putting in some good performances. This week I see an even spread in home and away victories.

Blue Bulls v Griffins

As expected the Blue Bulls stormed to a massive win last week against the Welwitschias. The Griffons put in an honest performance against Griquas succumbing 35 – 26. They will have to be in similar form to stop a confident Blue Bulls team this week.

Andre’s Prediction: Blue Bulls by 24
DrivingMaul Prediction: Blue Bulls by 7

Pumas v Leopards

The Pumas hit somewhat of a stumble last week against a determined Falcons team in a tough derby game. The Leopards lost their way against the Lions XV and will find it tough again this weekend as the Pumas look to continue their unbeaten start.

Andre’s Prediction: Pumas by 15
DrivingMaul Prediction: Pumas by 10

Sharks XV v Western Province

Tough game for the Sharks XV this week. I think the Cape Town boys will have too much firepower and will win a close one.

EP Elephants v Cheetahs XV

I was surprised by the margin of the EP win over SWD last week and even more surprised by the Cheetahs defeat against Boland. I think the Cheetahs will get back to winning ways against the unpredictable Elephants.

Andre’s Prediction: Cheetahs XV by 11
DrivingMaul Prediction: Cheetahs XV by 5

SWD Eagles v Zimbabwe

Tough game to call as both teams have been on the receiving end of some large defeats. Going with the home side on this one as I think the Zim team is still finding their feet in the competition.

Andre’s Prediction: SWD Eagles by 12
DrivingMaul Prediction: SWD Eagles by 3

Border Bulldogs v Boland Cavaliers

The Bulldogs came unstuck as predicted against the highly fancied WP team and will be looking to get back on track against a Boland team that has made an impressive start to their campaign. Both teams don’t have a problem scoring, but I fancy Boland to continue their winning start to the season.

Andre’s Prediction: Boland Cavaliers by 14
DrivingMaul Prediction: Boland Cavaliers by 5

Lions XV v Falcons

Hard to look past the impressive Lions team in this one. The Falcons did well last week against the Pumas, but will be no match for the young Lions team.

Andre’s Prediction: Lions XV by 33
DrivingMaul Prediction: Lions XV by 15

Namibia Welwitschias v Griquas

The Welwitschias are far more competitive at home and will be hoping for a better performance than last week against the Blue Bulls. Griquas stuttered their way to a win over the plucky Griffons. Griquas will have too much quality and it’s just a matter of “by how many…”

Andre’s Prediction: Griquas by 28
DrivingMaul Prediction: Griquas by 20

Season Record:

Andre: 13 from 16
DrivingMaul: 14 from 16

We have both gone with the same winning sides this week. I’m just more conservative on the margins than Andre.
