World Rugby U20s Championship 2019 Round 3 Predictions

We’ve had some impressive performances over the first 2 rounds. It also looks like it could be the first time since 2012 that there is only 1 Northern Hemisphere team in the semi finals!

Here is my video with my World Rugby U20s Championship Round 3 Predictions:

Georgia U20 v Scotland U20 – Scotland U20 by 5

2 sides that have had a really tough time of it after being drawn with South Africa and New Zealand. That’s led to both sides losing their opening 2 games but Scotland lead with the solitary bonus point. Both sides will be looking for a win to try and stay out of the bottom 4 grouping how ever unlikely that might seem at the moment.

Italy U20 v Ireland U20 – Ireland U20 by 5

Italy really pushed England close last round when the lost by only 1 point! Ireland as the 6 Nations Champions and with that victory over England in round 1 looked dangerous. However they came crashing down when they were defeated 45-17 by Australia. I think that Ireland will get their campaign back on track but it’s unlikely to be enough to make the top 4.

France U20 v Argentina U20 – France U20 by 7

France are sailing through this tournament with 2 TBP victories. No one should be surprised that the reigning champions are going well. Another victory here and they should sail into the semi finals. Argentina with 2 bonus points and a win should have enough to go into the 5-8 playoffs.

Wales U20 v Fiji U20 – Wales U20 by 7

After a good opening victory over Argentina, Wales were brought back to earth by France. New boys Fiji are finding it difficult as expected and Wales should pick up their second victory to also go into that 5-8 playoff group. Fiji will be in the 9-12 and fighting to not get relegated.

South Africa U20 v New Zealand U20 – South Africa U20 by 3

This is the clash of the titans. Both sides going well with big victories over Scotland and Georgia. I think that New Zealand’s expansive game will be kept under check a little when they come up against a more powerful side. Hence I’m going with the Baby Boks by a small margin.

The Baby Blacks will be a big topic on the All Blacks Edition podcast this week.

England U20 v Australia U20 – Australia U20 by 15

England have gone from losing finalists last year to potentially being in the bottom 4 and having to avoid relegation! They were pitted into the pool of death but no bonus points in the opening 2 games has really hurt them. They are unlikely to get on here either as Australia have been very impressive in this tournament. Perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised after their big win over New Zealand in a pre-tournament game.
