Super Rugby 2019 Round 18 Predictions

Here we are at the end of the regular season. We know the top 4 sides but there are lots of scenarios as to how the 4 visiting sides will be decided. It should go down to the last game of the season.

Catchup with what happened in Round 17 with the DrivingMaul Round 17 Review.

Here is my video with my Super Rugby 2019 Round 18 Predictions:

Before we get into the actual predictions, I have a series “DrivingMaul v The Bookie”. Check out how much I won from the TAB last weekend.

Highlanders v Waratahs – Highlanders by 10

Even before last weekend’s games it was noted that the Waratahs would have to rest a lot of Wallabies for this game. So whilst they still mathematically have a chance of making the finals they are going to have to rest players. With a weekend side visiting and the Landers knowing that they need a TBP win expect an open game with lots of tries.

I will be Live on YouTube straight after the final whistle with post match reaction.

Rebels v Chiefs – Chiefs by 7

The Rebels have fallen off a cliff and the Chiefs have stepped up their game over the last few rounds. However the Chiefs still have a mountain of injuries and a poor away record with only 2 wins this season. Still I have to go with the form side, that will remover the rebels from the playoffs. Expect to see 2 desperate sides playing in this game.

Check out the Jaguares Top The Africa Conference #RugbyChat EP29

Jaguares v Sunwolves – Jaguares by 15

There’s very little riding on this game. The Jaguares already have the Africa conference tied up. They will still be going for the win for moral and also to secure 2nd place. The Brumbies can overtake them if the Jaguares lose. That would mean not hosting potential semi final.

Hurricanes v Blues – Hurricanes by 7

This team really have nothing riding on it. Canes will finish 4th whatever happens and the Blues can’t qualify for the finals. The Blues would have been targeting last weekend away to the Reds as their first away win of the season. That didn’t happen as they lost by 1 point! I just can’t see them upsetting a Canes side even if the Canes rest a couple of players.

Brumbies v Reds – Brumbies by 7

This game will probably not have anything riding on it. The Jaguares should have picked up at least a win over the Sunwolves earlier in the weekend. The Reds ruined the Blues chances last weekend but that was at home. The Brumbies away is a different proposition and I expect a meaningless home win.

DHL Stormers v Cell C Sharks – DHL Stormers by 7

Oh boy this is where the weekend really gets complicated. At least these teams will have a good idea what they need to qualify. As will all South African games this season it really could go anyway. The Sharks are a really talented side that is poorly selected and coached. Bosh has to be in the 10 jersey but I can’t trust the coaches so I’m backing the home team.

Vodacom Bulls v Emirates Lions – Vodacom Bulls by 5

These teams could have both qualified or it could be all on the line. We aren’t going to know the full story until kickoff. I’m backing the Bulls to see it through, they are coming back from a really good tour. 1 win, 2 draws and the solitary loss if a really good return. That confidence should carry the Bulls into the finals.
