Super Rugby 2019 Semi Final Predictions

Just 3 games to go, so far the finals have all be won by the top seed. Can either the Hurricanes or Brumbies overcome the home advantage of the Crusaders and Jaguares? Or are we going to have the top 2 seeds in the final?

Catchup with what happened in the Quarter Finals with the DrivingMaul Quarter Finals Review.

Here is my video with my Super Rugby 2019 Semi Final Predictions:

Before we get into the actual predictions, I have a series “DrivingMaul v The Bookie”. Check out how much I won from the TAB last weekend.

Jaguares v Brumbies – Jaguares by 5

The Jaguares have been looking good this season. After a couple of early wobbles they put together an impressive run of wins to top the Africa conference for the first time. That has raised expectations as home advantage is such as key in finals rugby.

The Brumbies had a poor start to the season too and had to hunt down the Rebels who got points on the board early. They also put together an impressive and record breaking run of wins to do that. This game really will be forwards against backs. The Brumbies have one of the best scrums and line out mauls in the competition. However the Jaguares certainly have the more dangerous backs.

Crusaders v Hurricanes – Crusaders by 10

The Crusaders might have stumbled a little towards the end of the season. By then though they already had the points in the bank to top the competition. Were they more resting players than underperforming? It’s starting to look that way with the way they cutaway the Highlanders last weekend.

You have to say that history is against the Hurricanes. As you can see they have lost the last 4 encounters by double digit margins. That includes a semi final last year too. Can the Canes pull out 1 performance? If so I think it’s going to need some, no a lot of individual brilliance from their All Blacks. Think Ardie, Beauden and TJ.
