Currie Cup 2019 Round 3 Predictions

Some times it’s best not to say things are going well. I did that last week and then I had a shocker with my Currie Cup Premiership and Championship picks! Hopefully we have a better week this week.

Here are my Currie Cup Premiership Round 3 Predictions:

Pumas v Blue Bulls Pumas by 3 
Cheetahs v Griquas Cheetahs by 7 
Western Province v Lions Western Province by 3

So far this season I’m 3 from 6

EDIT: Alden emailed me “For the Currie Cup I am going with the Bulls for the First game , just a suggestion Alden emailed me” and I understand where he’s coming from. I would normally go for the province with a Super Rugby side, however the Bulls have lost their opening 2 games by 15 and 16 points. The Pumas have kept it much closer even though they have also lost their opening 2 games. Add in home advantage and I’m going against common wisdom on this one.

Here are my Currie Cup First Division Round 4 Predictions:

SWD Eagles v Boland Cavaliers SWD Eagles by 15 
Valke v Griffons Valke by 5 
Leopards v Border Bulldogs Leopards by 7 
EP Elephants v Jaguares XV Jaguares XV by 40

So far this season I’m 7 from 12.

    1. With Western Province and the Sharks having already dropped games it looks like a more open tournament this year for sure. However Cheetahs came last in 2018 so it would be a massive bounce back from that also I need to see how they go against some serious opposition first. They haven’t faced one of the stronger sides yet.
      I don’t know how much the new budgets for the provinces is shaking things up and maybe that’s another factor that will be in their favour this year.

      1. Yeah they have a squad with Pro14 experience. I don’t know the budget but I think that all the provinces except Pumas and Griquas are richer than the Cheetahs. I hope that they win. Have a good day.
