Mitre 10 Cup 2019 Round 7 Predictions

I think we had game of the season last weekend in the Mitre 10 Cup 2019. Wow I didn’t expect I didn’t expect Harbour to push Tasman so close! Can Waikato do the same or go one better this weekend? We also have a big Premiership clash in the form of Auckland v Wellington whilst in the Championship Hawke’s Bay host Taranaki in what should be a fiery encounter.

I’ll be getting to 2 Mitre 10 Cup and 2 Farah Palmer Cup games this weekend, bringing you live coverage on Twitter as well as Post Match Interviews on YouTube. I could really use your Support in getting round to all these games as I’m not paid by any organisation to do so.

Canterbury v Manawatu – Canterbury by 20

Congratulations Manawatu, you have got your 2 wins over the last 2 weekends but welcome back to reality. Canterbury might have had a tough start to the season but they are into the swing of things now. They are up into the top 4 and with Auckland v Wellington this weekend should climb 1 step higher.

Hawke’s Bay v Taranaki – Hawke’s Bay by 5

This will be an important game for Taranaki. If they harbour any hopes of a hime semifinal then a win this weekend is essential. However Hawke’s Bay are 1 of only 2 teams to have not lost yet this season. I just can’t see the Magpies letting that record slip this weekend.

Join us on Monday’s at 8pm for the Mitre 10 Cup show as we review the weekend’s action, cover the hot topics and look forward to the next round

Waikato v Tasman – Tasman by 10

Oh dear this is going to be a tough game for the Mooloos. Tasman were given a run for their money last weekend but their depth is just so strong. I think that will be a wakeup call for them and they will be looking to make a statement this weekend that they aren’t fading down the stretch.

I will be at FMG Stadium for this game, follow me on Twitter for my live coverage.

Southland v Counties Manukau – Counties Manukau by 10

Southland’s big opportunity was last weekend where they were up at halftime. That loss will have been their most demoralising of the season as that elusive win was in sight. Counties will being their strong pack and just grind them down.

North Harbour v Otago – North Harbour by 7

Harbour will be disappointed that they couldn’t win against Tasman but also take confidence that they have come the closest. Otago also will already be thinking about their next Ranfurly Shield defence as we have seen in all their away games so far this season. Comfortable home win.

Auckland v Wellington – Auckland by 5

This is setup to be the game of the weekend. 3rd hosting 2nd in the Premiership table and both having only lost 1 game this season. We have a host of exciting backs on display and it all could come down to which pack sets the platform. Oh and how many yellow cards Auckland pick up in this game.

I will be at Eden Park Stadium for this game, follow me on Twitter for my live coverage.

Northland v Bay of Plenty – Bay of Plenty by 15

Northland have been disappointing this season. But when you have 8 players out injured and they are starting players, then that’s what happens. The Mitre 10 Cup squads aren’t deep enough to cope with that and especially at the small provinces. So expect the Steamers to keep matching on.

Farah Palmer Cup

The Farah Palmer Cup is the women’s provincial competition here in New Zealand. Here are the round 4 fixtures:

  • Hawke’s Bay v Taranaki
  • Waikato v Bay Of Plenty – I’ll be at this game and covering it on Twitter
  • Canterbury v Manawatu
  • Otago v Tasman
  • Auckland v Wellington – I’ll be at this game and covering it on Twitter
  • Northland v North Harbour
